General Information

Israel is a country open to foreign investments and seeks to attract them. Consequently, there is generally no limitation on foreign ownership of Israeli companies and assets. Moreover, there are no exchange controls or currency regulations in Israel.

Israel's macroeconomic performance has been strong since the Covid-19-related recovery. Export growth, and household consumption, have supported this recovery in 2021. The start-up sector is picking up.

Among the characteristics of its economy, we can highlight the dynamism and openness to international trade. Due to the modest size of the domestic market and the maturity of certain sectors, there is strong competition between local and international companies.

It is worth noting that in mid-September 2020, the signing of an Abraham Agreement, a historic agreement to normalize relations between Israel, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain.

To date, Israel's economy remains diversified and highly resilient. Its foreign exchange and sovereign vulnerabilities are very low, with high external surpluses and relatively low debts.

Means of Payment & Banking Specificities

Depending on the amount of the transaction and the business relationship, we recommend choosing different payment methods: SWIFT transfer, if necessary supported by a guarantee or documentary credit. Advance payments are possible if the amount justifies it. On the other hand, documentary remittance is not recommended. LC StandBy is little used by Israeli banks even though they receive it from foreign banks.

It should be noted that it is difficult to obtain information about a local company, as this procedure is subject to the prior agreement of the customer.
