It draws on the Crédit Agricole CIB’s representative office in Indonesia and on a local frontline partner bank.

For non-banking matters, the International Desk offers the support of local law and accounting offices and its partners as well as expertise in business internationalisation.

General Information

It takes 4 to 6 months to set up a company in Indonesia.

The minimum capital required to set up a company in Indonesia is IDR 2.5 billion, which corresponds to the minimum paid-up capital (the minimum capital is IDR 10 billion, but there is no obligation to pay this amount).

With its 270 million inhabitants and a middle class that doubles every 5 years, Indonesia offers many opportunities (large investments in infrastructure and strong growth in consumer goods), but to do business in Indonesia, it is generally necessary to go through agents, distributors or other intermediaries. Developing a good business relationship can take time and often requires several meetings before negotiations can be concluded. Business relationships are based on trust and familiarity, hence the importance of establishing personal contacts and a network.

With the creation of the Asean Economic Community at the end of 2015, producing in Indonesia provides access to a region of 670 million people where tariff barriers have largely been removed.

Indonesia is a member of APEC. The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) is a regional economic forum created in 1989 to take advantage of the growing interdependence of the Asia-Pacific region. APEC's 21 members aim to increase prosperity for the people of the region by promoting balanced, inclusive, sustainable, innovative and secure growth and accelerating regional economic integration.

Please note: The French Embassy in Jakarta also covers East Timor.
