Crédit Agricole CIB's International Desk for Central and Eastern Europe, based in Vienna, assists the Group's corporate clients in Armenia with their local operations, including banking advice, account opening, financing for residents, and information on local companies.
General Information
In Armenia certain activities are subject to obtaining a licence but the legislation is highly flexible and open. The Armenian Development Agency offers a full range of information services on economics, commerce, tax and legal matters.
The Armenian regulations have been relaxed and there is no restriction on foreign investments (it is possible for a company under Armenian law to purchase land), and the taxation system there is attractive (identical regime for both foreign and national companies, free repatriation of benefits).
Means of Payment & Banking Specificities
Payments are carried out by transfer (there are different systems), in cash and by credit card. Cheques are rarely used and advised against. In cases of export to Armenia, it is recommended that you receive a cash payment via SWIFT transfer or to use documentary credit. Foreign exchange controls are in place.
