The International Desk Benelux assists Crédit Agricole Group customers in Luxembourg in carrying out their on-site operations, in particular: account openings, financing and banking advice. It relies on the Group’s entities and a leading local partner bank with a wide network of branches in the region.
For non-banking, the International Desk offers support from various service providers (law firms, Chambers of Commerce, etc.).
The Crédit Agricole Group has been active in Luxembourg since 1920 and owns numerous entities.
Among these, Indosuez Wealth, the fifth largest Luxembourg bank in terms of precedence, played a prominent role in the development of the Luxembourg financial centre. It serves a clientele of institutional investors, corporates and private investors, in all financial services businesses, including wealth management and wealth engineering. CACEIS is also based in Luxembourg and specialises in fund administration, depositary activities, execution and clearing for institutional and large corporate clients.
There are also entities such as CALI (Crédit Agricole Life Insurance), which specialises in life insurance, Amundi Asset Management in asset management, CAMCA, in the field of insurance and reinsurance, and LEASYS and OLINN for leasing.
Inaugurated in 2018, Crédit Agricole is also present through the Village by Luxembourg, a start-up accelerator created by certain Crédit Agricole entities based in Luxembourg. This Village aims to welcome start-ups from various geographies and working in the fields of fintech, proptech and industry.
General Information
The Grand Duchy of Luxembourg is a very open country with many advantages, including political and social stability, a favourable legal environment, an attractive fiscal framework, a state-of-the-art financial sector conducive to the reception of foreign capital, quality infrastructure, as well as a multilingual, highly qualified population with a very high standard of living.
Numerous subsidiaries of multinational companies set up there to establish a point of development of activities in Europe.
To drive future growth, the Luxembourg government is partly focussing on the development of startups. Many incubators and accelerators exist in addition to the House of Startups launched by the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce and inaugurated on June 1, 2018. The country is also focussing on diversifying its economy (Aerospace, Logistics, Industry, ICT and Environmental Technologies in particular), which has been underway for several years, in order to reduce its dependence on the financial sector.
Luxembourg is the first country to have a legislative framework in the space sector. Less well known, it also has a developed audiovisual production centre. In addition, as part of the COVID-19 crisis, the government has shown its willingness to invest in the economy's ecological transition. More specifically, the measures will promote sustainable energy renovation of housing, the transition to soft and sustainable mobility and investment in renewable energy.
In 2023, France was Luxembourg's third-largest supplier. The quality of the products is very important for the Luxembourg consumer.
Moreover, the country being small in size, it is quite easy to access the authorities. In addition, you should know that to do business in Luxembourg, the network is often very important.
