The Crédit Agricole Group’s Iberian Peninsula International Desk provides support to the Group’s business clients in Portugal to help them implement their operations on location, particularly opening accounts, and providing financing, information and banking advice. To this end, it draws on the Group’s business units and frontline local partner banks.
The Crédit Agricole Group has a presence in Portugal in the sectors of consumer credit and factoring with its CREDIBOM and EUROFACTOR branches respectively.
For non-banking matters, the International Desk offers the support of local law and accounting offices and its partners as well as expertise in business internationalisation.
For more information, see the list of the Crédit Agricole Group’s locations.
General Information
In Portugal the two areas around Lisbon and Porto represent 5% of the national territory but contain 70% of the population (10.37M inhabitants in 2014) and truly are Portugal’s economic show windows.
Means of Payment & Banking Specificities :
In commercial relationships between companies the most used payment method is SEPA transfer and direct debit (SDD). The multibanco network is also highly popular and allows any type of payment by card.
In addition to these traditional payment methods, confirming (payment to suppliers) and factoring are common payment and financing methods. On the other hand, paper instruments are no longer much used. Working capital financing is not issued and instead WC is based on the equivalent of a credit facility. We do find, on the other hand, the complete usual range of mid-term financing, including leasing.
