The Crédit Agricole Group is present in Australia through its subsidiary in Sydney, Crédit Agricole Corporate and Investment Bank Australia Ltd and a second office in Melbourne.
CIB was licenced by the Australian regulator in January 2022 to expand its offering to include corporate lending, capital markets, investment, financing and risk management, strengthening its long-standing strength in real estate, energy and infrastructure financing. The deployment of the international trade platform is underway, with completion planned for early 2025.
The Singapore & Asean International Desk assists the Group’s corporate clients in Australia in carrying out their operations on the spot, in particular by providing banking advice, financing, information on local companies and, on a case-by-case basis, commercial assistance. It relies on the Group’s entities and a leading local partner bank.
For non-banks, the International Desk offers the support of its leading partners in the internationalisation of companies.
General Information
The legal framework is stable and clear, a legacy of English law. The formalities for registering a business in Australia are simple. Even if there is the possibility of buying a pre-formed or "shelf company" from law firms or accountants, it is important to check that the company has never had commercial activity.
