General Information

The island of Mauritius has several assets making it an attractive destination: political stability, a well-developed banking system, an advantageous tax regime and an environment that is favourable to investors.

India and China are its two biggest suppliers. With regard to exports, the European Union (mainly France) and the United Kingdom are the main partner countries.

While tourism and agriculture continue to occupy an important place in the economy, other sectors are developing, such as the manufacturing sector, information and communication technology, construction and energy.

Important point to note: since December 2021, Mauritius has been removed from the black list of the European Union, relating to money laundering and terrorist financing and since October 2021 from the FATF grey list.

Means of Payment & Banking Specificities
To secure your payment we strongly recommend the use of a documentary credit confirmed with payment upon demand or after a maximum of 30 or 60 days.

Few payment delays occur as the majority of payments are made in advance or by confirmed documentary credits.

It is the standard and recommended to negotiate the payment of a deposit upon request.

The best currencies for billing currency exchanges are the Euro, the US dollar and the pound sterling.
