Head of International Desk Africa, Middle East

Support by the
Crédit Agricole group

Last updated: August 2023

The International Desk for Africa, the Maghreb, and the Middle-East provides support to the Crédit Agricole Group’s business clients in Ghana with a preferred banking partner, particularly with opening accounts and providing local financing.

For para-banking services, for example, seeking our partners or prospecting missions, the Desk draws on its partners that are leaders in business internationalisation.

General Information

Ghana is a member of the Economic Community of West African States (CEDEAO).
It has significant mineral (gold), agricultural (cocoa), and, now, petroleum resources. Because of this it depends on the world prices of these raw materials. The attractive business environment is favourable to FDIs and Ghana benefits from international financial support.

Access to the Ghanaian market is based on a partnership approach with Ghanaian businesses. There is a strong political desire on the part of public powers in favour of a more inclusive form of growth, focused on employment and local industry. The petroleum and para-petroleum industry is part of this along with other sectors.
In fact, Ghana is a “niche” market open to SMEs. There are numerous opportunities but they require active supervision and prospecting missions.

Means of Payment & Banking Specificities

To secure your payment, we strongly recommend the use of a documentary credit confirmed with payment upon demand or after a maximum of 30 days.
Payment delays are very frequent if transactions have not been secured.
The payment of a deposit is possible and advised.
The best currencies for billing currency exchanges are the US dollar, (USD), Euro (EUR) and the pound sterling (GBP).
